new play-down modus starting next season
The FLBB has decided a new modus for the play-downs. The clubs from N1 to N3 were asked and this modus was voted with over 50% of the votes:
From next season on, there will be 8 teams playing, the 4 last placed teams from N1 and the four best-placed teams from N2.
Some things are important to know:
- every team will start with 0 points!
- at least 2 teams out of the N1 will go down to N2
- it could happen that 3 or 4 teams from N1 will drop down to N2
- every team will play twice against all the other teams (this means that every team will have 14 games).

Question: “at least 2 teams of N1 will go down”. I don’ get this. Say that the 4 n1 teams beat all four n2 teams twice, so that the n1 teams all come out on top in the playdowns… then why is it still possible for 2 n1 teams to fall down a division?
At least 2 teams from the N1 will go down to N2, yes!
Even if all 4 teams finish in the top 4 in the „8-teams-play-downs-standings“, then the number 3 and the number 4 placed teams will go down to N2!
So there will always be at least 2 teams going down and 2 teams moving up, but it could also happen taht 3 or 4 teams fall down (move up).
Op Letzebuergesch
Also et faalen emmer 2 Equippen aus der N1 eroof, och wann dei 4 Equippen an deser 8ter-Grupp dei esichten 4 Plaatzen beleen! Deen Moment giffen dann dei 2 Equippen rausfaalen, dei op der 3. an op der 4. Plaatz sin.
En Beispill:
Huelen mer einfach di momentan Situatioun: Eng Liga mat 8 Equippen:
N1: Zolver, Contern, Esch, Mersch
N2: Hiefenech, Grengewald, Fiels, Mondorf
Lo spillen dess 8 Equippen zwee Mol geinteneen an um Enn ass d.Tabell wei folgt:
1. Contern
2. Zolver
3. Esch
4. Mersch
5. Hiefenech
6. Grengewald
7. Fiels
8. Mondorf
–> Deen Moment giffen trotzdem Esch an Mersch an d.N2 faalen an Hiefenech an den Grengewald opsteigen!
